We are showcasing the photography of Zofia Chomętowska – one of the most significant and prolific female art photographers of the interwar period, a pioneer of reportage photography and one of the top Polish artists who were able to use the potential of 35 mm cameras to its fullest. In 1936, Chomętowska anonymously won a contest for the official photographer of the Tourism Department at the Ministry of Communication. Her assignment was to take a series of photographs presenting the most attractive places in Poland. One of these places was Lublin.  Among the works featured at the exhibition, we can find official images as well as promotional shots and photographs that seem very intimate. All of them capture the reality of Lublin between the wars. The photographs on display come from the collections of  Archaeology of Photography Foundation.
