Brazil Dance 2017

The June guests of the Lublin Dance Theatre are members of the project “Yanka Rudzka. Gestures and traces” and performers of “Zaczyn” (Leavening), a show prepared within this project. The Lublin show of dancers from Brazil and the workshops they run are organised in cooperation with Art Stations Foundation in Poznań and thanks to the support of Adam Mickiewicz Institute/culture.pl  In the 1950s, Yanka Rudzka set up a pioneering dance education programme in Brazil and revolutionised the local contemporary dance scene.

The project raises important questions about the impact of Brazilian culture on contemporary art.  In Lublin, we will have an opportunity to see a fusion of these cultural considerations. The dancers will perform solo contemporary dances incorporating their local dances, like samba or capoeira. On Night of Culture 2017, we will see:
