Somewhere Else 2017

“Somewhere else” is a title fitting for a film about Jason Bourne or a song by Radiohead. Tymochowicz wants to give the works an attractive form and develop an approachable mean of presentation that would have something more, some mystery to it. He takes inspiration from everyday reality: his house and studio, the town where he lives and the land that he calls his own “little homeland”.  He is just as strongly inspired by processed and interceded images, among them photos discovered, art reproductions, amateur and professional accounts from journeys to far lands (especially Africa), interior designs and exhibition rooms. The strategy that allows this artist to skillfully combine diverse themes is his use of contrast.  Tymochowicz thus combines the real and the imagined, the true and the fictional, paintings of interiors and paintings of building exteriors, close-up and distant perspectives, the experienced and the told, the old-fashioned and the modern”.
