Stanisław Koguciuk (b. 1933) is an extraordinary artist. His work bloomed in the 1980s. Nowadays, he is the best known contemporary folk painter. He has been recognized not just in Poland, but also abroad. He received numerous awards and honours in many nationwide competitions. In 2012, he received the Oskar Kolberg Award for outstanding merits in service to folk culture. The committee that grants the award named this painter from Pławanice ”one of the last authentic folk artists”.
The exhibition Stanisław Koguciuk. Religious themes will be an opportunity to present his religious-themed paintings. It is worthwhile to note that so far this area of his work has not been showcased much. Religious themes in Koguciuk’s work remain as of yet an undocumented part of his rich artistic oeuvre. The exhibition will feature paintings borrowed from museums and private collections, as well as brand new works, never presented thus far.
