Tango first came to Poland in 1913. It was a popular dance everywhere, from small pubs to extravagant clubs, such as the famous “Adria”. The First Republic of Poland was called the European capital of tango. In the 1970s, 70% of releases by the record label “Odeon” were tango albums. This legacy was destroyed by war and the later political system which did not favour “decadent culture”. On Night of Culture, we will have an opportunity to experience what tango brought, namely cultural variety and along with it – passions and dreams about a better tomorrow. The flash mob will transport us to the 1930s, and we wll be accompanied by the tunes of the most beautiful Argentinian tangos.
