The Forgotten Polish Song

The programme includes works of such composers, as  Piotr Maszyński (1855-1934), Stanisław Niewiadomski (1859-1936), Felicjan Szopski (1865-1939), Tadeusz Joteyko (1872-1932), Tadeusz Zygfryd Kassern (1904-1957).  These pieces were originally written for voice and piano.  For Night of Culture,  Przemysław Stanisławski adapted them for  a string orchestra and soprano.  Aside from songs, we will also hear other  pieces by Polish composers :  Janusz Bielecki, Bernar Stieler, as well as  “Farewell to Mother Land” polonaise by Michał Kleofas Ogiński  and “The old man and the old woman” by Stanisław Moniuszko.

The intimate character of the Orchestra contributes favourably to such projects. The fewer the members, the easier it is to satisfy the tastes of many music lovers, by adding a number of classical music hits into the repertoire.
