The back wall of a school building at Kowalska street will be decorated with a mural designed by Rafał Eret, presenting the artist’s vision od the theme of fish that refers to the 16th-century legend about the origins of the name Lublin chronicled by Marcin Kromer (LubLin = Lub + lin in English Or + Tench). The mural will be produced by Cezary Hunkiewicz under the artist’s guidance.
Rafał Eret – b. 1 march 1970 in Lubartów. He graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam in 2001. He lived and worked in the Netherlands between 1993 and 2003. He currently lives and works in Lubartów. In 2013, he presented the first exhibition of his paintings. The opening took place in Wirydarz Art Gallery – the artist has been associated with it since 2012. Eret’s exhibition was considered to be one of the most interesting art exhibitions in Lublin since 2013. Last year, Eret successfully presented his oeuvre at the Warsaw Art Fair and a large-scale exhibition in Płock Art Gallery in September 2016. His paintings become part of the best Polish and foreign collections.
