Rooftop Concert “ Tarasy Zamkowe Shopping Centre | 20:00-0:00 | free admission
This year’s visit to Night of Culture should begin with climbing to the top of Tarasy Zamkowe Shopping Centre. This place will become a unique concert stage. We will hear, among others, Bartosz Weber solo. His project is largely based on original electronic music, generated using analogue instruments. The roof will also feature youth from K.Lipiński Music School under the supervision of Agnieszka Miedzwiecka. Young musicians will perform on 6 Celtic harps. This historical instrument from Ireland and Scotland will let us hear such songs as Cohen’s Hallelujah in a completely original arrangement.
The key of the programme will be H.Wielniawski Philahrmoninc Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Cheung Chau. 50+ instrumentalists will introduce us to the world of incredible music, often from times long past, which continues to strike the right chords in the hearts of the listeners despite the passage of time. The concert will prove that Haydn’s or Mozart’s compositions are well-known to modern audiences even though they frequently don’t realise it.
Chansonists and Retrolisteners “ Dominican Monastery – Courtyard | 22:00-23:30 | advance registration
When we cross Lublin Castle Błonie and then enter Podwale street, which will rule this year’s Night of Culture, we can use their stairs to quickly get to the Dominican Monastery. There, upon the presentation of a free pass, we will hear songs harking back to the music of the interwar period, including such songs as: “Ada to nie wypada”, “Ach, Ludwiko”, “Nie kochać w taką noc, to grzech”. The songs in new arrangements by Tadeusz Czechak will be sung by the vocal ensemble SINE NOMINE attached to the “Pod Akacją” Youth Cultural Centre. This special music project has been produced for the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence celebrated in Lublin as “Lublin 1918-2018. Freedom inspires us. You can book free passes.
Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys | Rybny Square | 21:00, 22:30 and 0:00 | free admission
You do not need free passes to enter Rybny Square in order to see the concert of a band carrying an unusual name: The Antique Teeth Of Kashpirovsky. It will be a real show on a scaffolding! Antikvariniai Kašpirovskio Dantys (the band’s name in their native language) play music which they call “smagis” (Lithuanian word for “fun”, “merriment”). The audience may expect everything from polka, mariachi, postpunk, Balkan, heart-wrenching ballads and psychedelic sounds.
Night of Culture’s music stage will also be found on the Bridge of Culture – this is where we will first hear salsa and then Czarne Lwy z Przedmieścia. Even more music will be heard in front of H. Łopaciński Voivodeship Library, where we will hear such bands as The New Lessers, Pasażer, Kakofoniks and Pasjonatta.
