For years, Night of Culture has been an event shaped by the entire city. It won’t be any different this special year when we are celebrating the 700th anniversary of the city’s foundation. Night of Culture engages not only big cultural institutions, organisations or companies but also local bands and residents. We care for your opinions and that’s why we want to know who you want to hear during the upcoming Night of Culture. From today onwards, you are invited to listen to and vote on the best bands.
The bands picked in the open call have created the Lublin Music Database 2017. It is an index of Lublin bands containing short descriptions, videos and songs submitted by the musicians. If you like any of the bands, you can vote on them until 31 March. The band that gets most fans will play on Night of Culture 3/4 June.
A jury panel will also be picking their favourites. The jury consist of the representatives of the band Relentless – the winners of last year’s public vote, Paweł Franczak – journalist and editor at Kurier Lubelski, Tomasz Kowalewicz – journalist and editor at Gazeta Wyborcza and Rafał Chwała – music manager, producer, the Artistic Director of the East of Culture – Different Sounds Festival.
Lublin has its rhythm, dynamics and energy. Lublin bands are an integral part of this phenomenon. During Night of Culture, we will be able to hear their sounds.

Jury:
Paweł Franczak – editor and psychotherapist. He writes on culture and science. He wrote, among others, for “Wiedza i Życie”, “Polityka”, Rzeczpospolita. He leads the culture section of “Kurier Lubelski”. He enjoys traditional singing and zen. He doesn’t like krupnik soup.
Tomasz Kowalewicz – journalist and editor with “Gazeta Wyborcza” and the cultural magazine “Co Jest Grane 24”. He leads the music section of Radio Centrum and hosts the programme “Polskie Nagrania” (Polish Recordings). In the past, he wrote for Onet.pl and the magazine “Electric Nights”. He is passionate about interviewing artists. He has already met Peter Gabriel but he’s yet to meet Phil Collins.
Rafał Chwała – musical manager, producer, the Artistic Director of the East of Culture – Different Sounds Festival. A passionate culture and film expert by education. He has been connected with Lublin for better or for worse for many years. In his free time, he loves soccer and pierogi ruskie.
